Here is a list of our services.

  • Physiotherapy - General

All Noosa Physio Centre physiotherapists are highly qualified and experienced. We offer an extensive range of physiotherapy services and methods of treatment to professional sporting teams, recreational athletes, and people of all ages with general aches and pains, including back pain, as well as those recovering from and preparing for surgery.

We work as a team with other health professionals to get your body ‘back on track’ as fast as possible. Some therapists have expertise in the treatment of upper limb, lower limb, overuse injuries or injuries common in particular sports. All therapists remain up to date with spinal pain management. Ongoing in-house and external education ensures that we remain at the forefront of physiotherapy techniques.

    Physiotherapy treatment includes:

    • Joint mobilisation and/or manipulation, soft tissue massage and stretching.
    • Education in injury specific home exercises to encourage self management.
    • Instruction in gym programmes and stability training, including Pilates based routines.
    • Postural correction and ergonomic advice for work stations.
    • Taping and bracing to protect joints and injured tissues.
    • Testing of joint function prior to returning to sport.
  • Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

A Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist is a highly qualified health professional who specialises in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, particularly neck and back pain. They employ the most advanced techniques and their results are sometimes instantaneous.

A Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist can offer assistance in many ways
    · They will treat any underlying problems.
    · They can teach you about posture, how to move well, lift correctly, avoid muscle
strain and injury and even return to fitness after childbirth, inactivity or illness.
    · Mobilisation, manipulation, stretching, massage and exercise prescription are some
of the key methods employed by practioners to help improve your mobility.
    · Precise, specific exercise advice can help you to correct faulty spinal movement
and improve coordination, leading to smoother, pain-free movement.
    · Customised exercise programs to improve power, endurance, work tolerance
and overall fitness will help to increase your strength and prevent injury recurring.

  • Sports Physiotherapy

As an area of special interest, Sports Physiotherapy not only focuses on the elite athletes in the world, but it draws on the experiences of working with these people to help everyday patients achieve their personal goals.

Sports Physiotherapists have a vast knowledge of how the human body physically works and can therefore diagnose and treatment all manner of specific sports injuries. A Sports Physiotherapist also approaches a patient from an active perspective, believing in rehabilitation through movement and control and that activity rather than rest is sometimes the best form of rehabilitation.

Our Sports Physiotherapists have extensive hands on experience working with international, local and elite athletes from various team and individual sports and through our membership to Sports Physiotherapy Australia we have access to the most recent clinical advances in sports physiotherapy through conferences, workshops and other continuing education processes.

All our physiotherapists have recent experience with elite teams and Jonathan Moses has worked with international rugby union teams in Hong Kong and in Australia with Queensland Country Rugby Union, the mighty Noosa Dolphins and is the current touring physio for the Australian Mens Rugby 7’s team.

  • Clinical Pilates

Clinical Pilates is an emerging specialisation within Physiotherapy. A Clinical Pilates instructor, utilises the Pilates equipment and Pilates exercises to help people with all manner of injuries, illnesses or disabilities. Clinical Pilates specialists have learnt to take the range of exercises developed in traditional pilates and focus on the specific exercises that would suit an individual clients needs.

The theory of clinical pilates is that through a range of exercises we can train “core spinal control”, relying on variable spring loaded resistance equipment and carefully controlled movement patterns to enhance postural stability and or flexibility. To execute the exercises properly a stable, controlled pelvic and shoulder girdle is crucial with the load being used to both facilitate and /or challenge both deep and global stability musculature. Then because of the high degree of repetition of these consciously controlled movement patterns, your body gradually changes from conscious control to subconscious as the complexity of the movement challenges are increased.

The science behind Clinical Pilates sounds complex, but once you have learned to control your movements on the pilates equipment you start to discover a new you and from that point on your posture, control, strength and movement patterns begin to change.

  • Paediatric Physiotherapy

Paediatric Physiotherapy may assist children with:

    • Delayed Developmental Milestones – such as sitting, crawling, walking, playing and manipulating toys
    • Early intervention for children at risk of developmental delay e.g. prematurity, plagiocephaly, talipes, torticollis, developmental coordination disorder
    • Biomechanical or gait abnormalities and scoliosis assessment and management
    • Disabilities  – e.g. equipment prescription and functional exercise programs to assess and manage conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism and chronic respiratory conditions
    • Difficulty at School – poor writing, scissor usage, drawing, gross motor skills (e.g. catching/throwing; running, jumping, climbing) and difficulty following instructions
    • Restlessness / Concentration – constant shifting, disturbing others, and poorly focused on tasks

A child’s environment is a major factor in their skill acquisition, development and retention. To address this we offer school, home and/or facility visits where required as well as practice based assessment and treatment at Noosa Physiotherapy Centre. Comprehensive reports can also be provided which include all relevant assessment findings and recommendations / strategies for home/school/facility implementation.
